What You Need: Someone to manage your organization’s email newsletter — or write engaging newsletter content that serves your audience.
What I do: With a clear sense of your audience’s interests and your newsletter goals, I craft newsletters that are interesting, informative, and spark delight. I manage newsletter production, plan editorial content, and build newsletter editions using tools like Substack and Mailchimp, ensuring that what lands in your audience’s inbox is worth reading.
This can mean…
- Planning newsletter content for several weeks or months, with a mix of timely and evergreen short content related to your industry.
- Taking over newsletter writing and management while your staff is on leave. Rest assured that your newsletter is in good hands.
- Writing original, short-form articles that only appear in your newsletter. After all, your content is why your newsletter has impressive open rates.
- Helping your team develop a newsletter format that makes sense for your company, topic areas, and audience.
Work Samples

Over two months, I helped the History Colorado team plan and produce their weekly digest newsletter. I wrote the bulk of the content, came up with ideas for each edition, and edited and proofread the final version before it was sent to readers’ inboxes.
A Few Favorites
Testimonial: Sam Bock, Publications Director at History Colorado
Meredith is an extremely effective communicator and a great writer. She intuitively understands her audiences and her clients’ needs, and is great at adapting on the fly. We hired Meredith to fill in as staff writer while one of our folks was out recovering from some health problems, and Meredith stepped in to fill the role perfectly. She’s a quick, detail-oriented worker with an ability to get along with anyone. I would jump at the chance to work with her again and you should too!
Innovators Circle Quarterly
I’ve written multiple editions of Innovators Circle Quartely, an email newsletter from National Jewish Health’s Development office. Each newsletter highlights recent discoveries and accomplishments of the hospital’s faculty members, demonstrating how their work is on the cutting-edge of their respective fields and translating science for a layman audience.

Women’s Barbell Club
I launched this Substack newsletter in early 2023. Published semi-monthly (with a new cadence coming in 2024), Women’s Barbell Club features profiles, Q&As, cultural criticism, and deep dives on everything related to women and strength. Here are a few of my favorites so far:
- Olympic Weightlifting Tips from Gold Medalist Olivia Reeves
- My Roommate Got Her First Pushup (and You Can Too)
- Pippi Longstocking is the strongwoman we didn’t know we needed
- Life Cycle of the Female Athlete: A Q&A with author Christine Yu about her new book, Up to Speed
- The pandemic destroyed my workout routine. Here’s how I’m trying to rebuild it.
Daily Film Festival Recap Emails
I wrote a series of emails like this for the 44th annual Denver Film Festival. Each email provided a recap of the previous day’s events and highlighted events and screenings of the current day.
